Affordability

For too many families in District 26, the “Florida Dream” is becoming a financial tightrope. From the quiet neighborhoods to the growing communities in Lake County, the message I hear is the same: The cost of living is rising faster than paychecks.

Affordability isn’t just a campaign buzzword; it’s about whether a young family can buy their first home, whether a senior can stay in theirs, and whether our local businesses can find workers who can actually afford to live near their jobs.

The Triple Threat to Our Wallets

  1. The Property Insurance Crisis: Florida’s homeowners are paying some of the highest premiums in the nation. This isn’t just a coastal problem. In District 26, these skyrocketing rates are a hidden tax that eats into retirement savings and monthly grocery budgets. We need real reform that holds insurance companies accountable while providing relief to homeowners.
  2. Housing Costs & Growth: Our district is growing, but that growth must be sustainable. We need to ensure that “affordable housing” isn’t just a concept, but a reality. This means protecting the Sadowski Trust Fund and incentivizing the development of homes that teachers, first responders, and service workers can actually afford.
  3. Utility and Energy Burdens: As temperatures rise, so do our electric bills. We must advocate for fair utility rates and invest in energy efficiency programs that help residents lower their monthly overhead without sacrificing comfort.

My Commitment to You

As your representative, my priority will be to bring “kitchen table” economics back to Tallahassee. I am committed to:

  • Fighting for Insurance Transparency: Ensuring your premiums are based on risk, not corporate greed.
  • Lowering Taxes for Working Families: Supporting sales tax holidays and credits that put money back in your pocket.
  • Smart Infrastructure Investment: Reducing the “commuter tax”—the time and gas money lost to gridlock—by improving our local transit and roads.

District 26 is a beautiful place to live, but it must also be a viable place to thrive. I’m running to ensure that Florida remains a state where hard work still leads to financial security.
