My name is Robyn Elaine Lawrence, and before I say anything about politics… I want to tell you something personal.
I am a Post-Op Transgender Woman
There was a time in my life when I didn’t know if I could truly be myself.
I remember what it felt like to walk into a room and wonder…
“Will I be accepted here?”
“Will I be safe here?”
“Do I belong here?”
That feeling… stays with you.
And the truth is—there are people right here in Lake County who feel that way every single day.
Young people.
Parents.
Neighbors.
People who just want to live their lives with dignity—but instead are made to feel like they have to hide.
And I made a decision.
I decided I would never go back into the shadows.
I decided I would stand up—not just for myself—but for every person who has ever felt unseen, unheard, or unsafe.
That’s why I’m standing here today.
That’s why I’m running.
Because here in Lake County, we are better than fear.
We are better than division.
We are a community.
A community that shows up.
A community that cares.
A community that should protect all of its people.
But right now, too many of our neighbors—especially in the LGBTQIA+ community—don’t feel protected.
And that should matter to all of us.
Because when one group is targeted, it doesn’t weaken them…
It weakens all of us.
I’m not running to represent some people.
I’m running to represent everyone.
That means standing up for:
- The student who just wants to feel safe in school
- The family who deserves equal protection under the law
- The worker who should never fear discrimination
- And every LGBTQIA+ individual who deserves to live openly and proudly
This isn’t about politics.
This is about people you know.
It’s about your neighbors in Leesburg, Eustis, Mount Dora and all over Lake County
People who deserve to feel like they belong—because they do.
I believe in something simple, Everyone matters.
Everyone deserves respect, Everyone belongs.
So I’m asking you to Stand with me, Walk with me & Fight with me.
Because when we stand together as one community
When we fight together—WE WIN TOGETHER!
